Calvin Mills, 80, of Gulfport, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 in Biloxi.
Mr. Mills was born in Choctaw County and was a member of Joppa Shrine Temple and Polar Star Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Order of Eastern Star Handsboro #374 and was a Knights Templar for the Gulfport Scottish Rite Bodies.
Mr. Mills served in the United States Army during World War II. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after World War II and retired from military service after 26 1/2 years. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of Bayou View Baptist Church, where he was an ordained Deacon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, W.F. and Esther Mills. Survivors include his loving wife of over 60 years, Lexie """"Jane"""" Mills of Gulfport; his sisters, Geneva Griffith of Jackson, MS, and Geraldine Stephenson, of McCool, MS; a special nephew, George W. Geriner of Pensacola Beach, FL; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his caretaker, Ethel Barnes of Gulfport.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd. Gulfport, where friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until services. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bayou View Baptist Church building fund, 4709 Chamberlain Ave. Gulfport, MS 39507, or Shriners Children's Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607-1460.
