Mrs. Burtile Powell, age 86, of Pass Christian, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
Mrs. Powell had lived most of her life in Moss Point and in Pass Christian. Although not able to attend in last few years, she was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Pass Christian. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she had traveled throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Powell; sister, Willa Mae Smith Ladiner; brother, A. D. Smith; father, Theo Smith; mother, Leona D. Smith; and daughter, Nelda Mae Brewer.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Lambert and husband, Richard; son-in-law, Scott Brewer; 4 grandchildren, Pattie Weimar (Mark), Teresa Villarubia, Tony Ball and James Michael Ball; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ryan Carr (Tarah), Brooke Villarubia, David Villarubia, Jr., and Tabithai Johnson (Willie). She is also survived by her step-daughter, Judy Miller and step-grandchildren, Denise Marshann Corban, Robert W. McIntire, Tena K. Alonso and Charles Ray Bynum, Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial in Griffin Cemetery, Moss Point.
