Bryan Kevin Purvis, age 56 of Gulfport, MS, passed away on October 21, 2018.
He is survived by his parents, Charles W. and Martha S. Purvis; his step child, Hayley Casper Hebert; ex-wife of 14 years, Jaye Purvis; his sister, Carla Purvis Davis (Michael) of Yucaipa, California; her brother, William "Bill" Purvis (Alesta) of Dripping Springs, TX; her nieces, Kristin Davis, Hunter Purvis, Paige Purvis, and Holley Purvis; and his nephews, Casey Purvis, Ryan Davis, and Chad Davis.
Bryan traveled extensively all of his life. His first home was Long Beach, MS, then Semback, Germany, back to Long Beach, MS, Garland and Austin, TX, and back to Gulfport, MS. From there, he went to Tampa, FL, where he graduated from Leto High School in 1980. He then attended Perkinston Jr. College for two years. Even though he lived in many places, Mississippi was always his HOME.
Bryan was always active in sports. His high school tennis team won the state championship his senior year, and he played in the Sugar Bowl Tennis Tournament for two years.
Bryan loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he played golf for relaxation. He was happiest when he could spend time with his step daughter, Hayley, teaching her to fish, playing softball, or watching her cheer. Bryan also loved his nieces and nephews. He was forever taking them hunting and fishing and for walks with the dogs. Bryan bred and raised Shelties and German Wirehair Pointers. Many of his protégés went on to win shows and competitions.
He worked for a number of organization for over 30 years; Roy Anderson, KBR, Jacobs, and several others as a laborer, foreman, supervisor, and any and all things between. He worked principally in the Southeast with jobs in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, and even California. He was experienced in all phases of construction, residential as well as commercial, and was highly respected by everyone he worked for AND with. (He was a valuable asset in his career in construction, where he excelled and was recognized many times for his leadership, work ethic, and dedication).
