Bruce Young

Walter “Bruce” Young, age 66, of Long Beach, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Long Beach. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lauren Young; his father, William Young; a brother-in-law, Daniel Haulsee; and a sister-in-law, Toni Lott. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Donna Parks Young, Long Beach; his son, Derek Young, Long Beach; his mother, Joan Young, Laurel; a brother, Brian Young (Carla), Brandon; his sisters-in-law, Laura Haulsee and Kelli Hawkins; his nieces, Brianne Lupold (Troy) and Samantha Young; his nephews, Donovan Haulsee and Isaac Young; and other relatives and friends.

Bruce was a native of Laurel and was a longtime resident of Long Beach. He attended the Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport from first through sixth grade and later graduated from Long Beach High School in 1977. He worked for several chemical companies, casinos, and retired from Lowes in 2020. 

He loved hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and singing karaoke – he had an amazing voice.

The family would like to thank Dr. Randy Roth and Dr. Eric Graham for their care and compassion and Hospice of Light for the care they provided.

Bruce was always smiling and laughing and known to be the “life of the party!” He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who cherished him. The void he left will be felt forever.

A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 5 – 7 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.
