Brookes enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, arts & crafts, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Jean and Edwin Bates; and her grandson, Trevor Troy Nua.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Al Nua; her son, Troy (Liz) Nua; her daughter, Tracy (Marshall) Strickland; her grandchildren, Jordon (Katherine) Strickland, Jenna Strickland, Taylor Nua, and Adrian Gafar; her great grandchildren, Brailynn Strickland, and Zeppelin Gafar; her sister Donna (Bob) Pilcher; and nephews Bobby, Derek, and Daniel
