Bobby Gene Spooner Jr, age 68, of Gulfport, MS, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Gulfport.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Paul Spooner; his parents Charles and Carmen Bowen; his brothers, Roland Spooner and Michael Bowen (Pamela).
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jean Spooner of Gulfport; daughter, Elisha May (Kenneth), sister, Tammy Bowen; grandson, Justin Stoke; great grandson, Vincent Stokes; great uncle Eddie Meek (Patricia); great aunt, Jean Eichelberger (Skip), brother-in-laws, John Highfield, Edward Highfield (Kim), and Michael Highfield (Melissa); sister-in-law, Catherine Highfield; nieces, Christina Blanachard (Andy) and Brandi Skrmetti (Nick); nephews, Jarod Highfield (Marla), Demetrius Dixon, Dayonte Dixon (Emily), Dashawn Dixon, and Nathan Bohr; great niece, Addison Blanchard, great nephew, Kayden Blanchard; cousins, Jack Meek and Darla Sowards; honorary daughters, Anna White (Chris), Nicky Miller (Steve), Tammy Keys (Lee); honorary granddaughters, Shyanne Hill, Alex Bosarge, Madison Woolhiser, and McKenna Woolhiser; life-long best friend, Dwight “Buckeye” Harper (Joanne), son 1-1/2, Clint May and honorary grandson Kyle Keys .
Bobby worked as a Longshoreman for the Port of Gulfport, where he was known as “Beautiful Bobby”. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and could often be found fishing at the Gulfport Harbor.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at the Gulfport Harbor Fred Urie, SR. Pier on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Casual attire is requested.
