Bobby O'Quinn, age 80, resident of Gulfport, MS, died on Sunday, January 11, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. O'Quinn, a native of Columbia, MS, was the son of the late, Estus and Ruby Pittman O'Quinn. After marrying the former Inis """"Sally"""" Dickerson in 1947, Mr. O'Quinn entered the United States Air Force. He served his country for twenty years before retiring as MSgt. He then worked for NASA and the U.S. Navy in the Civil Service as a computer programmer for over twenty years. He was a member of Michael Memorial Baptist Church in Gulfport. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with the MS/AL/LA Carriage Travel Group. He was always a home farmer at heart, growing many vegetables for family and friends. Being mechanically minded, he enjoyed tinkering with and working on cars. He was a gentle and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a very warm and kind soul, who will be remembered for his humility and quiet spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a infant daughter, two brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sally Dickerson O'Quinn of Gulfport; children, Alice Basford and her husband Edward of Miller Place, NY, Barbara Buckalou and her husband Buster of Gulfport, Betty Truhler and her husband Greg of Denver, CO, and Pam Brown and her husband Ned of Prairieville, LA; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandhchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49 North, Gulfport, where friends may call from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow services at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
