Billy """"Rusty"""" Ray Welch, Jr., age 46 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Saturday, May 15, 2010, in Gulfport.
Rusty worked as an electrician for over 25 years, and worked the last 10 years as a supervisor for A & B Electric. He enjoyed fishing and grilling out with friends. He especially loved spending time at home with his family, and taking his children to their ballgames. Rusty was an avid sports fan, and his favorite teams were the Saints, the Celtics, and the Braves.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Ray & Marcie Mae Welch; his sister, Cindy Welch; his paternal grandparents, Alston A. & Minnie Welch; his maternal grandfather, Russell Weir, and his uncle, Duane Weir.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth """"Cissie"""" Welch; his son, Billy Ray """"Trae"""" Welch, III, and his daughter, Megan Elizabeth Welch all of Gulfport; his brother, Alston Welch of Eldon, IA; his maternal grandmother, Susie Weir of Ottumwa, IA; his aunt, Bonnie Steffin of Ogden, IA and his cousins, Diane Parker, Jeanie Sue Weir, Dave Weir, Raymond Steffin, Audra Steffin, Susan Steffin, and Melissa Steffin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, from 6pm-8pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at 10am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
