Billy E. Sheffield, age 87, of Gulfport, went to be with his Savior on April 16, 2012.
Mr. Sheffield served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and he later retired from Bell South. He was a member of the Orange Grove Masonic Lodge #630, the Gulfport Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Joppa Temple Shrine where he served as Past Potentate. He was a member of Michael Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Mattie Sheffield, his siblings, Juanita Joiner, Harvey Sheffield, John M. Sheffield, and Bobby Sheffield, his daughter, Faye Simmons, and 2 spouses, Eva Sheffield, and Lucille Sheffield.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Bea Sheffield, his children, Pat (Ray) Spence, Robert (Melissa) Sheffield, Billie Jean (Mike) McCann, Russell ""Rusty"" (Shelly) Sheffield, Jean (Gregg) Altese, Linny (Carolyn) Nichols, a son-in-law, Wayne Simmons, his brother, Tommy Sheffield, 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 10 - 11 am at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be in Pine Ridge Gardens.
Memorials may be sent to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
