Billy Bloom Riser

Billy B. Riser, age 74, longtime resident of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
Mr. Riser was born December 24, 1937, in Ruston, Louisiana, to William Harold and Garnett McIntosh Riser. He graduated from Ruston High School in 1955. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserve, during which time he met his loving wife, Barbara Joanne Kolb. They married April 8, 1960, and resided in Ruston until 1964, where they began to travel the country in the industrial construction field. They settled in Long Beach in 1971 where they raised their family and co-owned/operated their family business, Riser Construction, with his brothers. He enjoyed spending time fishing and traveling in the Smokey Mountains.
He was preceded in death by wife, Barbara; his daughter, Jennifer Lynne Riser; his son, Timothy Andrew Riser; his parents; and siblings, William Harold Riser, Jr., Robert Shirley Riser, Melvin H. Riser, Margaret Anne Riggins, and Emma Louise Stewart.
He is survived by his children, William J. Riser (Sondra) of Biloxi, David S. Riser of Gulfport, and Melinda Anne Riser of Long Beach; three grandchildren, Richard J. ""R.J"" Riser, Brittany L. Riser of Biloxi, and Jeremy Riser; twin brothers, John and James Riser; brother-in-law, Thomas A. Kolb of Lake Charles, LA; and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Long Beach City Cemetery on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 2:00p.m. Friends may gather at the cemetery one hour prior to services.
