Billy Lewis McLeod, age 93 of Long Beach, passed away on March 19, 2022.
He was born on March 28, 1928 in Iantha, Missouri. He lived his childhood in Southwest Missouri where he worked in Agriculture until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in April 1946. He served his country for 28 years, earning numerous Bronze Stars while serving 3 tours in Vietnam. He retired as a LCDR in 1974. Bill and his family moved to the MS Gulf Coast in 1971, where he resided in Long Beach the remainder of his life. After retirement, Bill owned and operated the fishing charter boat P.J. until 1995.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jean “PJ” McLeod; his parents, Alfred Lewis and Lena Rae McLeod; his five brothers, Clifford Ray, Jimmy, Douglas, Dean, and Bob McLeod; his sister, Pauline Stanislaus; his daughter, Lynda Ann White; his sons-in-law, Al White and George Shelton; and his grandson, Carl Shelton.
He is survived by his six children, Bonnie McGahan (Charlie), Gary McLeod(Shellie), Donald Mcleod(Teresa), Sherry Shelton, Jeff Beaty (Melanie), Doug Beaty(Kelley); his 16 grandchildren, his 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He loved golfing and hosting family fishing trips. He was an astute investor and provided sound advice to his children during critical times of need.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Monday, March 28, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home chapel, followed by interment at Biloxi National Cemetery.
