Billy Y. James, age 73 of Gulfport, went to be with the Lord on his birthday, Sunday, December 9, 2007.
Mr. James was born in Union, Mississippi and spent most of his life on the Coast. He served in the United States Army, he was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church, and was a retired Electrician of Avondale (Harvey Yard). Billy enjoyed spending time with friends at his """"office"""" - Waffle House at Landon Road.
He is preceded in death by his father Y.H. """"Hailey"""" James, his niece, Tammy Smith and a sister, Linda Cooley.
Survivors include his wife Mary James of Gulfport, his mother, Mattie James of Diamondhead; three children, Glenn (Liz) Braden of Kiln, Gary (Teena) James of Long Beach, Staci (Keith) Hensley of Amelia, Ohio; grandchildren, Kristeena James, James Braden, Sheryl Agamas, Robyn Hensley, Kristyn Hensley; one great grandchild, Remi Lee.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2007, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49 North, Gulfport. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 10 A.M. at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport.
