Billy Joe Edwards

Billy Joe Edwards, age 79, of Saucier, passed away at his residence in Saucier on Friday, July 29, 2011.
Mr. Edwards was a lifelong resident of Saucier and operated Edwards Gravel Pit. After graduating from Saucier School, he served in the U.S. Navy SeaBees during the Korean War. He was a member of the Saucier United Methodist Church, and J.L. Powers Masonic Lodge, Perkinston, and a member of the Joppa Shrine Temple. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Katie Stewart Edwards, and a brother Frank Stewart Edwards.
Survivors include his children, Tonya Bond and Katie Smith, 2 sisters, Patsye Hester and Carol Ann McCreedy, 5 grandchildren, Justin, Candace, and J.R. Bond, Miranda and McKenzie Smith, 3 great-grandchildren, Christian and Brayden Bond, and Kayleigh Smith, and numerous other relatives.
The visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2011 at Saucier United Methodist Church from 10 am until 12 noon. The funeral service will be at 12 noon in the church, followed by burial in Saucier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to any Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
