Billy Buchanan

Billy G. “Buck” Buchanan, age 89 of Vancleave, MS., passed away on May 18, 2022 in Vancleave.

Buck is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Buchanan; his first baby girl, Rosemary; his parents, James Buchanan and Sally Buchanan Greene; and his siblings, Charles, Joe, Leroy and his sister Doris.  Buck was the last surviving member of his family.

He is survived by his children, Billy (Ella), Rose (Frank), Jimmy, Danny (Traci), David, Donald (Carla), Kelly, Judy (Mike); his 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great- great- grandchild; numerous friends.

He is a native of Union, SC.   He came Jackson Co. in 1958, and after 24 years in the USAF and serving at KAFB, Biloxi,  he decided to retire there as well.  Buck had his own lawn service for 30 years.  He loved to talk and shoot pool, spending his birthday’s on Horn Island with his sons, listening to George Jones, and spending time with his family that he loved dearly. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.  He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25th, from 10a.m. until the 12p.m. funeral service at The Riemann Family Funeral Home, Lemoyne Blvd. in West Jackson County. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery beginning at 1:30 p.m.
