Betty Jean Tompkins

June 18, 1925 — October 27, 2012

Betty Jean Russ Tompkins, age 87, of Saucier, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Diamondhead.
She was born June 18, 1925, in Akron, OH, to John and Madie Jane Russ. While serving in the U.S. Navy WAVES, she met and married her husband, Billy Tompkins of Mississippi. After his discharge from the Navy, they moved to his home in Kilmichael, MS, and then to the MS Gulf Coast in 1997.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her four children, Robert (Jenell) Tompkins of Saucier, Judy (Joseph) Aubuchon of Humble, TX, Eddie (Renee) Tompkins of Hot Springs, AR, Morris (Deborah) Tompkins of Brandon, MS; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Kilmichael, MS. Visitation will be held one hour prior in the church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodland Village Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice for their kindness and care for our mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in mother's name to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, c/o Sherry Richardson, 315 Tompkins Road, Kilmichael, MS 39747.
