Betty Jane LaFontaine was a lifelong resident of Delisle for 89 years. She peacefully passed away on August 30, 2021. For all that knew Betty, knew she was a very loving and caring person. She married and helped raise her nephews at the young age of 16. From there she raised six children. Her years of loving did not stop there, as she loved seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews. She was co-owner and operator of 25 years, Tiny Tots Daycare Center, where she touched many many children's lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Niolet and Otesia Ladner Niolet; her sister, Helen Moran Sinclair; her brothers, Herman, Revis and Elwood Niolet; her husband of 57 years Edwin LaFontaine; her Son Carl LaFontaine and Daughter Debbie LaFontaine.
She is survived by her sons, Paul LaFontaine (Pam), Timmy LaFontaine (Juanita), Mark LaFontaine (Sam Matranga); her daughter, Mary Fortenberry (Melvin). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Amanda King, Mitchell Fortenberry (Cassie), Paul LaFontaine II, (Lauren), Matthew Fortenberry (Angel), Ethan LaFontaine (Marissa), Patrick LaFontaine (Kalie), Drew LaFontaine. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, Cassa House, Blakely LaFontaine, Cooper Fortenberry, Makenna LaFontaine, Mallory Fortenberry, Brady Fortenberry, Collins LaFontaine, Everett LaFontaine, Parker LaFontaine, Charley Fortenberry, Elia LaFontaine and soon to be Freya LaFontaine.
Betty's life was surrounded by love. Love of her family and love of her faith.
The family would like to thank the home sitters that have been in her life, along with the Pass Oaks Personal Care home and St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM with the visitation for family and friends beginning at 11:00 AM, on Monday, September 6, 2021, both at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Pass Christian. Burial will follow in New Delisle Cemetery. Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln Delisle Rd., Pass Christian is serving the family.
In Lieu of flowers the family request for donations to be made to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church building fund.
