Betty Jane Hogg

Betty Jane Hogg, 89, a Gulfport, MS resident passed away in Fort Worth, TX Wednesday June 1, 2011.
Betty was born in Jersey City, NJ, attended school and later moved to Jamaica, NY where she met and married her husband, Francis. During his Air Force career, she had the opportunity to join him in Japan and had many stories to tell including climbing Mt. Fuji. After 23 years of marriage and her husband's passing, she returned to work and raised their only son Charles. She was a stenographer and a secretary for many years, retired from the Mississippi State Cooperative Extension Service Harrison County Office and then volunteered for the American Red Cross. She loved her church, helping other people, maintaining her house and yard always filled with various flowers and plants, caring for all animals most especially her birds and above all she enjoyed spoiling her granddaughters.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law and blessed by all her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Lillian Soderquist; her husband, Francis J. Hogg; brother, Glen Soderquist; and her sister, June Erdman.
She is survived by her son, Charles Hogg and wife Nancy and her granddaughters, Brianna and Christina Hogg all of Burleson, TX.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, MS.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport, MS.
In lieu of flowers, Betty's family respectfully suggests that memorials be made to a charity of choice or to Cowan Road Baptist Church, 425 Cowan Rd Gulfport, MS 39507.
