Betty Jo Carnes Fayard, born October 7, 1932, in Corinth, MS, and a resident of Gulfport, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Fayard was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nellie Carnes; brother, Dr. William H. Carnes, Jr.; and sister, Marjorie Carnes.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Johnnie Ray Fayard; children, Johnnie Ray Fayard, Jr. and wife, Tanya; Janet F. McDonald; Sandra Jeschke and husband, Klaus; and Alicia F. Frommeyer and husband, Billy, all of Gulfport; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Fayard, of Gulfport; Leta Hugg, of Gretna, LA; Bernadette Hansen, of Gulfport; and Helen Fayard, of Long Beach; grandchildren, Vic McDonald, Jr., Amity M. LeBleu, Kelly M. Pinkham, Tripp Fayard, Tory Fayard, Quinn and Sophie Frommeyer; great-grandchildren, Christian and Anne-Marie McDonald, Lily and Landry LeBleu; a step-grandchild, Katie Frommeyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fayard was a long time resident of Gulfport, a homemaker, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Gulfport.
Pallbearers will be Richard Chapin, Carl Lizana, Tripp Fayard, Vic McDonald, Jr., Mike Blake, and Richard Wagner.
The family would like to express a special thanks for the love and care shown to them during Mrs. Fayard's short battle with cancer.
