Betty Downey

Betty R. Downey, age 80, of Long Beach, passed away on March 14, 2010 in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben T. Downey.
She is survived by her son, Frank Downey and his wife, Barbara, of Long Beach; a sister, Anna Blanche Suchi and her husband, Jerry, of Benton, LA; three grandchildren, Michael Edward Downey and his wife, Stacy, of Nashville, TN, Anna Shea Cummings of Meridian, MS, and Ragan Andrew Downey and his wife, Sally, of Petal, MS; six great grandchildren, Ashley Cummings and Danielle Cummings, both of Meridian, Aiden Downey of Petal, and Corey Gray, Hunter Gray, and Logan Gray, all of Long Beach; and a dear friend, Max Alexander of Long Beach.
She was of the Christian faith. She retired after 32 years from South Central Bell Telephone Company as a chief operator and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a past member of the Garden Park Medical Center Auxillary.
Memorials may be given to St. Patrick's Epsicopal Church Building Fund, 310 N. Cleveland St., Long Beach, MS 39560.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the St. Patrick's Epsicopal Church, Long Beach, where family and friends may visit from Noon until service time. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
