Betty Ann Cornelison

July 19, 1955 — February 16, 2024

Gulfport

Betty Ann Cornelison, 68, of Gulfport passed away February 16, 2024. She was born in Dalton, GA to the late John E. Cornelison and Ann Miller. She was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of English and Master of Library Sciences and had mathematics certifications. She spent her career as a math teacher and librarian retiring from the Pass Christian High School. She was a staunch Pass High School sports supporter, an avid USM sports fan, and Saints fan.

As a member of Nugent United Methodist Church, her church family was dear to her heart. She was also a part of the USM Alumni Association, Campus Crusades Supporter, and Reliant Missions Supporter.

Betty was as fiercely loyal a friend as she was stubborn. She loved her family, friends, and her sisters. Her second family has been grafted into our biological family for years. She loved us all equally. She was a devoted sister and aunt and was determined to set everyone on the right path in life; one way or another. Betty had a close-knit group of co-teachers who were her best friends. She remained close to friends in Hattiesburg, MS as well. She also was a daily visitor to Chick-fil-A in Gulfport, MS, where she knew almost everyone by name. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepmother, Reine Cornelison.

Survivors include her sisters, Mary Myers and husband, Jimmy, and Carolyn Noé and wife Areti; brother, John Cornelison, and wife Elyse; nieces and nephews, James Myers, and wife Deedee; Jaimie Young, and husband, Kevin, Katherine and Nathan Cornelison, and Sofia Noé; great nephews and niece, Joshua and Caleb Myers, Michael Hatfield, and Liliann Young; and her second family, Susan Lenoir, Amy (Chris) Barlow, Micah (Kat), Hayden (Peter), Abigail, Melissa (Christopher) Upton, and Declan and Harper.

A graveside memorial service will be at 3:30 pm, Thursday, March 14, 2024 at West Hills Cemetery in Dalton, GA. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 14, 2024 at Nugent United Methodist Church, 13183 John Clark Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
