Betty Baker

Betty R. Baker, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at her residence in Long Beach, MS.

Mrs. Baker was a native of Fines Creek, North Carolina, and a long-time resident of Long Beach. She worked for Bell South for 38 years and 8 months. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved Duke basketball. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulfport, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Long Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lawrence Russell and Selma Rogers Russell; and her sisters, Pauline Rowland, Lucielle Sheffield, Lois Bradley, Edna Messer and Edith Carpenter.

Survivors include her daughters, Beverly O’Connell, Kimberly Baker and Belinda Cangelosi (Steve); the daughters’ father, James T. Baker; her siblings, Phyllis Kirkpatrick and Robert “Bob” Russell; and her grandchildren, Aaron “Cody” Smith (Sherri), Johannah Cangelosi and Olivia Cangelosi.

Friends are invited to join the Baker family for visitation and services on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
