Mr. Bertrand Anthony Ladner, Sr., age 76, of Gulfport, was called to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 30, 2009.
He was born April 8, 1933 in Waveland to the late Mayor Garfield and Lottie Ladner. Mr. Ladner was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He was Past Commander of the American Legion, Post 119, Past Commander of the DAV Ch 5, Past State Commander of the DAV, and a member of the VFW #2539.
Mr. Ladner worked at the Gulfport VA Hospital from 1960 to 1974 and he was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Ladner was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ryan Ladner and his siblings, Malvin Ladner, Alvin Ladner, Grace Ladner Thomas and Myrtle Ladner Haas.
Survivors include his children, Karen Ladner Demoran, Donna Marie Tasker, Bertrand Anthony Ladner, Jr., and Alise Lynette Putnam; his step-children, Faye Ryan Gill, Sandra Ryan Hill and husband, John, and Richard Ryan and wife, Lee Anne; grandchildren, Steven Scott Ladner, Kelsi Kyleen Ladner, Dustin Wade Tasker, Danielle Melissa Tasker and Calli Geneva Putnam; 7 step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Kaeleigh Amelia-Anne Pace; his siblings, Carl Ladner, Shirley Ladner LaFontaine and Louie Ladner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the National Cemetery in Biloxi.
