Bernice S. Bowman, 86, of Saucier, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in Saucier.
Mrs. Bowman, born September 10, 1921, was a sweet, considerate lady who loved spending time and making memories with her large, close-knit family. She was well respected and loved by friends, neighbors, relatives and former students.
Mrs. Bowman retired after 36 years with the Harrison County School System. She also worked for ten years as a baliff with Judge Thomas and was an Auxiliary Deputy with the Civil Air Patrol. She was a member of numerous organizations; the Eastern Star for 50 years, Daughter of the Nile, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Amaranth, ADK (Silver Sister); 1st Baptist Church of Saucier, and was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Bowman; parents, Benson and Madey Saucier; sister, Curnis Jones; and brothers, Qunel and Lawrence Saucier.
Survivors include her brother, Leamon Saucier (Carol); sisters, Sadie Bond (Ray) and Madie B. Case; 10 Nieces; 10 Nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Bowman's nurse, Gracie Flurry and to Trinity Hospice.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49 North in Gulfport. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Wedgeworth Cemetery.
