Bernadette Aurelia Mares, age 47 of Biloxi MS, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 11, 2021 after a 7 year battle with cancer.
Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Annette Mares; her brothers, Gilbert and Frank Mares; sister, Carol Archer and her nephew, Michael Drieling.
She is survived by her soulmate & partner of 20+ years, Hal Miller; fur baby, Sophie; sisters, Joyce (Anthoney) Archuleta, Debbie (Dan) Guevin, Melba (Albert) Patterson and Carla (Doyce) Holley; brother, Richard Mares; nephews; David Drieling, Derek & Doyce Holley Jr, Larry & Ronny Barela, Victor Guevin, Edward, Steve, Gilbert & Robert Mares; nieces, Chelsey, Monica & Theresa Mares, Bernadine Barela, Mary Orr, Karen Guevin, Melissa & Christina Ortega; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
She was a lifelong resident of Biloxi, Ms and attended St. Martin High School where she played the flute in the band and graduated in 1991. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church which she dearly loved attending with her mother before she passed.
After her diagnosis, Bernadette always maintained a positive outlook and stayed determined to win this battle. Even though the cancer returned several times, she never lost hope and never stopped fighting. She was known to say, "My Momma didn't raise no quitter!".
Her most cherished times were spent at home with her better half, Hal, and her fur baby Sophie, with the grill fired up and a little wine on the side.

Bernadette lived a simple life and chose to leave her earthly home in the same manner. In honor of her request, no services will be held. If you would like to honor Bernadette , the family (request or prefers) donations made to any Cancer Charity or Organization.
