Bennie Dill, Sr., 67, of Gulfport, a beloved husband, father, and respected member of the community, passed away on October 3, 2023, in Jefferson, LA. He was born on September 7, 1956, in Gulfport, MS. Throughout his life, Bennie made a lasting impact on those around him through his career, passions, and unwavering faith.
Bennie owned and operated his own business called Bennie Dill Painting for an impressive 40 years. His dedication and talent as a painter were admired by all who had the pleasure of working with him. Bennie's impeccable workmanship and attention to detail earned him a stellar reputation in the industry.
Beyond his successful career as a painter, Bennie found great joy in music. For an astounding 38 years, he served as the Director of Music at Faith Baptist Church. Through his musical talents and devotion to his faith, he touched the lives of countless individuals within the church community. Bennie's commitment to spreading the message of Jesus was unwavering. Bennie received numerous awards and recognitions from Faith Baptist Church for his faithful service in the Music Ministry and the Prison Ministry throughout the years. His dedication to ministry was an inspiration to both fellow church members and those he ministered to.
Outside of work and ministry, Bennie pursued various hobbies that brought him immense happiness. He possessed a beautiful singing voice and loved to share it with others whenever the opportunity arose. Additionally, Bennie enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and using his metal detector to uncover hidden treasures. In his younger years, he also played baseball and cherished those memories dearly.
Born into a loving family, Bennie was preceded in death by his parents Kelly Paul and Norine Dill, as well as his sister Genice Thill. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Rita Gail Dill; their children, Ben D. Dill, Bennie Dill, Jr., and Kevin D. (Melissa) Dill; and his brothers, Terry (Judy) Dill, Jerry (Emily) Dill, and Deland (Sherri) Dill. Bennie's legacy extends to his 13 cherished grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The lives touched by Bennie will never be the same. His warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering faith brought light into the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation services for Bennie will take place on October 10, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS. The visitation will commence at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the same location. Interment will then take place at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach, MS at 12:15 PM.
The family would like to thank Pastor Dan Carr, Sr. for his tremendous support during this difficult time. The family would also like to continue Bennie’s legacy of sharing Jesus with everyone by reminding all of God’s Simple Plan of Salvation. Everyone is invited to follow the “Roman Road,” found in the Holy Bible: Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10, Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13. Bennie’s favorite version was the King James version.
