Benjamin A. Collins, age 64, of Long Beach, MS, died at home on Saturday, April 01, 2006. Mr. Collins was born on August 26, 1941. He graduated from Harrison Central High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy from April 1966 to April 1968. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1970 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology, he was employed as a Youth Court Counselor at the Harrison County Family Court until 1990. He retired from the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in 1999. Mr. Collins was also an active member of Bible Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent and Choir Member.
Mr. Collins is preceded in death by his parents, George Harvey Collins, Sr. & Clara Beatrice Stephens Collins and brother, George Harvey Collins, Jr. Mr. Collins is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Becke) Rester Collins; three sisters, Kathi (Willard) Tannehill, Margaret (Carroll) Brooks and Jacqulyn (John) Wolf and a sister-in-law, Berenda Rouse Collins Younge; four nephews; three nieces and three great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 04, 2006 from 6:30-9:00pm at Gulf Coast Funeral Homes, Inc., Three Rivers Road Chapel in Gulfport. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 05, 2006 at 2:00pm at Bible Baptist Church in Gulfport. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
