Benjamin L. Carrubba, age 83, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home in Pass Christian. Mr. Carrubba was a staunch Catholic who served as a lay minister. He was a devoted member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church Choir where he served as director for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Carrubba was a proud veteran of World War II having served in The United States Navy. He was a retired budget analyst with 37 years of service with the federal government. After his retirement as a civil servant, he worked as the comptroller for the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi for six years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gaspare and Virginia Carrubba, and two brothers, Paul Carrubba and Paulino Carrubba. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Eleonora Greco Carrubba, sons John Carrubba (Pamela), Steven Carrubba, Michael Carrubba (Carrie) and Richard Carrubba; and daughters Jo Ann Carrubba (Mel Smith) and Marguerite Carrubba; brothers, Pete (Dorothy) Carrubba and Ben (Earline) Carrubba; grandchildren, Jennifer Gross (Brad), Stefanie Bridges (Sam), Warren and Erin Carrubba; Stevie Erickson (Peter); great grandchildren Sidney and Bailey Gross; and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Menge Ave. in Pass Christian on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 9a.m. until 11a.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. in the church by the Rev. Fr. Louis Lohan.
