Beatrice Purvis

September 15, 1930 — September 17, 2018

Mrs. Beatrice, "Bea" Clayton Purvis entered Heaven on September 17, 2018, in Gulfport, Mississippi. She was born to the late Clarence and Veria Clayton in Meridian, Mississippi on September 15, 1930.
Bea was the beloved wife of the late Ray Purvis. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Clayton, James Clayton, and Annie Lee Pugh Hunt.
Bea leaves to live out her legacy, her sons, Allen Purvis (Stephanie), Mike Purvis (Sherryl), and Paul Purvis; her sister-in-law, Peggy Clayton; grandchildren, Melanie Heusel (Andy), Julie Butler (Allen), Casie Coley (Jason), Brennan Purvis (Stephanie), Paul Purvis (Melissa), and Alicia Parrino (Anthony); many adored great-grandchildren and treasured nieces. She also leaves behind beloved SuSu, her "best dog ever," and others that she looks forward to reuniting with in heaven.
Bea's grandchildren lovingly called her "Mommy Bea".  She enjoyed gardening which was her therapy and cut her grass until she was 83 years old.  Bea was a member of Cowan Road Baptist Church for the last 31 years where she had many dear friends and served in the kitchen at Sunday suppers.  Mommy Bea's "famous" chocolate chip cookies were savored by her family at every special occasion and holiday.  She was an avid reader and solved the Word Jumble in the newspaper daily.  Above all else, she loved her children.  Her words to her great-granddaughter, Hannah, in her final weeks as Hannah cared for her, summarizes her heart and her life: "You are supporting me?  I should be supporting you."
The family wishes to thank Encompass Hospice and all who visited and cared for her during her illness.  The family is especially grateful to Irma Shaw who was truly the hands and feet of Jesus to Bea and her family.  To those who have known Bea during her graceful journey, the service will be at 11:30 AM, Thursday, September 20, 2018  at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, Mississippi with a visitation for family and friends from 10:30 AM until the service.  The interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
