Baxter F. Wade, Jr., age 86, of Gulfport, MS, departed this life on June 22, 2024.
A native of Roxboro, North Carolina, Baxter moved to Mississippi with his family in 1942. Mr. Wade was a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Engineering in 1961. Mr. Wade practiced engineering and construction for most of his career, retiring as the Director of the Pat Harrison Waterway in Hattiesburg, MS. He was a Shriner and Freemason, where he enjoyed serving in the clown unit. Mr. Wade also volunteered as a member of the Board of Directors for the Shriner’s Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Mr. Wade was an avid boater and camper, and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Power Squadron.
Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter F. Wade, Sr. and Eleanor Spriggs Wade.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosemary P. Wade; three sons, Dr. John T. Wade (Sierra) of Ocean Springs, MS, Frank P. Wade (Lesley) of Stratford, OK, and Trey Wade (Lauren) of Southlake, TX; ten grandchildren, Britt Wade, Tarryn Wade, Preston Caldwell, Dylan Wade, Alex Wade, Ethan Wade, Brayden Wade, Ashton Wade, Sterling Wade, and Rhett Wade; three great grandchildren, Adalyn Caldwell, Oliver Caldwell, and Caroline Wade; one brother, Alex Wade (Tere) of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Carolyn Barr (Doug, deceased); and numerous relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the name of Baxter F. Wade, Jr., to the Shriner’s Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA, 71103.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport.
