Mr. Barry Lee McDaniel, Sr., age 54, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011.
Mr. McDaniel was born in Lambert, MS to Cecil Gardner McDaniel and Annie Marie Freeman McDaniel. He was retired from South Central Bell. After his retirement, his hobbies included woodworking and the arts. Fishing, carving, and painting were his favorite hobbies. He was an avid Saints fan, even through days of the ""Aint's,"" when his paper bag was beside his chair. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He and his family were members of Pass Road Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife 25 years, Virginia ""Ginger"" McDaniel of Gulfport; stepmother, Edna McDaniel of Grenada; mother, Annie Marie Freeman McDaniel of Batesville, MS; three children, Parker McDaniel (Shanna) of McHenry, Virginia E. McDaniel Comfort (Nicholas) of Cleveland, MS, and Barry Lee McDaniel, II (Britney) of Gulfport; siblings, Carolyn Nichols, Tammy Grant, Allen McDaniel, Tim McDaniel, and Greg McDaniel; and grandchildren, Parker Bryce McDaniel and Nathan Dale McDaniel.
Per Mr. McDaniel's wishes, no memorial services will be held.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, helped the family with cremation arrangements.
