Tom Dreyfus, age 73 passed away on May 2, 2007 in Gulfport.
Tom, a former New Orleans resident, has made his home in Pass Christian, Mississippi since 2000. Mr Dreyfus was born March 2, 1934 in Oakland, California to Felix and Helen (Babe) Carter Dreyfus.
Tom, a World Class Sailor, held memberships at the New Orleans, Southern, Pontchartrain and Pass Christian Yacht Clubs. In 1971, he founded New Orleans Marine which designed and built World Class racing sailboats with outstanding success. In 1984, the New Orleans company was renamed United States Marine, Inc. and began transitioning their product line towards defense/military type patrol craft. In October 2005, United States Marine, Inc. moved to Gulfport, Mississippi. Tom, currently Co-Chairman and CEO of United States Marine, Inc. has led the company in becoming one of the worldaÌââ¢s leaders in the design and construction of small to medium range patrol craft. His company has contributed to the safety of US Special Operations Forces for many years.
Tom will be remembered by his family and friends as a person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. His heart was always open to those in need.
He is survived by his daughter, Katie Beth Trinchard of Toledo, OH, son, Barry T. Dreyfus, Jr. of Gulfport, MS, grandson, Steven Auxter of Toledo, OH and partner, Ann Kelly of Pass Christian, MS.
Tom will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Friday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA 70448. Interment will be in Mandeville City Cemetery.
