Barclay Wagner

Barclay Wagner, 77, a long-time resident of Pass Christian, passed away Friday morning, March 19th at his home on the Gulf Coast.
Barclay was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 27, 1932, to Richard and Alice Wagner. He later moved to Pass Christian, Mississippi where he graduated from Pass Christian High School in 1950. Barclay was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics. He had a great passion for baseball as shown through his participation on the baseball team at Southern Mississippi, unique collection of baseball memorabilia, and many trips to Florida to watch Spring training for the majors.
A longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Mr. Wagner was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps where he served for over 20 years. In active duty, Mr. Wagner served time in Okinawa, Japan and later in the reserves as commanding officer of his reserve unit.
Barclay was a well-respected geophysist whose work travels took him all over the worlds oceans and lands including Venezuela, Trinidad, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, Africa, China, and North America.
Prior to serving as president of his own seismic consulting business, Pangea Exploration, Mr. Wagner was a former employee of GSI (Geophysical Services, Inc.) and Texas Instruments in New Orleans. Additionally, he also worked for Time Slice Technology, Inc. in Houston, Texas and was a long-time member of the SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysics).
Barclay was preceded in death by his father, Richard Wagner, and mother, Alice Morse Wagner. Barclay is survived by his wife, Signe Wagner of Pass Christian; three daughters, Maria Preston (Eddie) of Gulfport, MS, Melissa Busby of Pass Christian, MS and Amy Wagner of Long Beach, MS; one brother, Mr. Richard M. Wagner of New Orleans, LA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Ruth Leonard (Bill) of Diamondhead, MS; and a stepson, Nick Ashcraft (Kathy) of Lafayette, LA.
Barclay was a loving, supportive husband and father who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be dearly missed by all his family, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 12:45 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pass Christian, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to ones favority charity.
