Barbara Washer

Barbara Dale Washer, age 74, formerly of Pass Christian, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, in Hattiesburg, MS.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ethel Cox; and her son, Ray Washer, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, John Washer (Andrea) and Rik Vandejen (Lucy); her siblings, Sandra Cox St. Pierre, Brenda Lyons, Debbie Barron (Jim), Roger Cox, and Dennis Cox; and her grandchildren, Justin and Reychel Washer.
Barbara graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in English. She made the Dean's List every year until her graduation.
She was an English teacher in Hattiesburg. Among the many things she enjoyed included writing poetry, literature, and short stories. Another favorite activity was painting. She traveled to Mexico and Bosnia with her Christian group that was part of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Barbara was a kind and loving person with a strong Christian faith. She was a very intelligent, giving and social person who loved helping others. She was very knowledgeable about health and wellness and would share her knowledge willingly with others.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pass Christian. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
