Barbara Ruth Vanderhoof was born on October 3rd, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Edward T. and Ruth Greeley. Barbara died at her home in Mobile on Sunday, August 25th, 2024, after suffering from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis lung disease for the last 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Vanderhoof, her parent, and brothers, Edward T III, and Steven Greeley.
She is survived by her daughters, Tonya (George) Henson, Danielle (Danny) Smith, and Samantha (Preston) Ford; sisters, Kathleen Hartwell and Janet Swartzwelder, brother, Rodney Greeley; grandchildren, Breighanna, Savannah, Myrie, McKenzie, Kaelyn, Kayliegh, Hayleigh, Madison, TJ, and Connor; step grandchildren, Collin, Caleb, Carter, and Korrina; and great grandchildren, Peighton and Maurice (Ace), and her lifelong partner, Bret Byrd.
She loved to travel for work and leisure. She graduated from Vernon Verona Sherrill High School in Verona, NY in 1977. She worked as a seamstress on automobiles, boats, and airplanes until she fell ill in 2021 and decided to come back to her family home in Mobile. Besides traveling, her hobbies were going to the beach, quilting, doing puzzles, reading, and going to watch her children and grandchildren play ball.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Doss Wedgeworth cemetery in Saucier, Mississippi. Please send all flowers, plants, and donations straight to the cemetery, 20397 Dan Walker Road, Saucier, MS 39574.
A repass will follow afterwards at the homestead.
