Barbara Peenstra

Barbara Legendre Peenstra, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed from this life unexpectedly on June 17, 2021.

She was born to John Austin and Audrey Legendre (deceased) on February 27, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Rowbotham of Mandeville, Louisiana.

Barbara and her late husband, George Thomas Peenstra, lived most of their lives and raised their family in Gulfport, Mississippi. She is survived by her three children: Todd Peenstra (Kelly) of Annapolis, Maryland; Sean Peenstra (Carol Sue) of Brookeville, Maryland; and Leslie Loughman (Mark) of Gulfport, Mississippi; as well as seven grandchildren: Margaret "Meg" Loughman, Patrick Loughman, Caroline Loughman, Zoe Peenstra, Finn Peenstra, Quinn Peenstra, and Tynin Peenstra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Saint James Catholic Church, Gulfport, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
