Barbara Van Ornam passed away on December 18, 2018 surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Bowermaster and Elizabeth W.Bowermaster of Metairie, Louisiana; her brother-in-law, George Washington; and her nephew, Rob Washington.
Survivors include her sister, Beth Washington; her children, William C. Stewart, Amy Stewart Hickman (John), and David W. Stewart (Denise); her grandchildren, Nicole Hickman Johns (Michael), Jacob Hickman (Courtney), Jason Hickman (Michelle),William T. Stewart, and Mary Camille Stewart; her seven great-grandchildren; her maternal niece, Anne Stutz (Brad); and numerous other nieces and nephews, including her niece, Margaret Shore who offered steadfast care through Barbara's brief illness.
Barbara was a kind, wonderful mother and a devoted Christian. She always looked for and found the good in every person.
Barbara's family wishes to thank the staff at One Magnolia Place and Jason Green at Riemann Family Funeral Homes for all of their care and assistance.
At Barbara's request, a family memorial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to any favorite charity.
