Barbara Flanders Murphy

Mrs. Barbara Flanders Murphy, age 58, resident of Asheville, NC passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at Mission Hospital in Asheville after being at Grace Health Care Nursing Home in recent years due to heart trouble and various illnesses related to diabetes.
Barbara was born in Bossier City, LA to Daniel E. and Charlie Victoria Flanders. She was a member of the Baptist church and attended Mississippi State University. She was an accomplished artist, although most of her paintings were washed away by Hurricane Katrina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Murphy and her mother.
She is survived by her father, Daniel E. Flanders Sr., of Long Beach, her brother, Daniel E. Flanders Jr. and his wife Jodi Ann of Ocean Springs; her nephew, Daniel E. Flanders, III, and her niece, Victoria Ann Flanders.
Barbara was a long standing member of MENSA, and she was praised for her excellent work of comforting and helping many others at the Grace Health Care Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, where friends may visit from 1-2 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
