Barbara Claire Hayes

Barbara Claire Hayes, native of New Orleans, La., passed away on October 23, 2023, in Gulfport, MS, at the age of 89. Barbara was a long-time resident of Biloxi, Ms. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph, and Blanche L’herisse; her sister, Iris Spencer; her brothers, Ralph L’herisse, and Wayne L’herisse; her children; Hubert T. Hayes, and Rodney Hayes; and her grandson, Nollie Jakob L. Griffin.

Barbara graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, in New Orleans, LA., and married her sweetheart of 74 years, Hubert T. Hayes. Barbara was a devoted military wife and mother. She loved cooking, music, dancing, spending time with her family, and going to the casino. She was known for her beautiful, witty, lively, and magnetic personality. Barbara had an infectious laugh that captured your attention, leaving her loved and cherished by everyone who knew her. 

Barbara is survived by her siblings, Joseph L'herrise, Michael L'herrise, Karen Martes, Shelia Brown, Yolanda Ned, and Paula L’herisse; her beloved husband, Hubert T. Hayes; and their children, Novell (Coreth) Hayes, Alvin (Constance) Hayes, Rene (Hollie) Hayes, Clinton (Vicki) Hayes, Derryl (Chaundra Lang) Hayes, Shaunelle (Reginald) King, Donna (Donald) Anderson, Patrice (Nollie) Griffin, Terrance (Lindie) Hayes, and Scott (Camille) Hayes. She leaves a loving family, including numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. 

She will be missed tremendously, and her memory will continue inspiring and uplifting those fortunate to have known her. May she rest in love.
