August 1, 1940 — June 24, 2018

August Decidue "Augie" Alfonso, Jr., 77, of Gulfport, passed away on June 24, 2018.
Born August 1, 1940, he was the son of the late August Decidue "Gus" Alfonso and the late Mollie White Alfonso, and brother of the late LaBora Alfonso Carnovale and the late Phyllis Alfonso Randall.
He is survived by his daughter Ana Alfonso Linke, her husband Charles Linke and their son Aaron Charles Linke; his daughter Liza Alfonso Wall, her husband Robert Wall and their son Robert Harrison Wall; his son August Decidue "Gus" Alfonso III and their mother and his former wife, Nancy Alfonso; his stepdaughters Jessica Ellis Hammons, and Faith Ellis Gage and their mother and his former wife, Linda Alfonso.
A native of Gulfport, Augie was a devout Roman Catholic, a volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, a former fundraiser and King of Carnival for the Carnival Association of Long Beach, the owner of Central Paper Company in Gulfport, a graduate of Louisiana State University, an avid golfer and a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club.  He will be remembered with love by his many friends and the entire Alfonso family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Noon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Gulfport, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:30 AM until the Mass. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
