Audrey Frances Walker, of Boulder, CO - Audrey Frances Walker died at the age of 84 on July 26, 2024, at Sunrise of Boulder Reminiscent Care. She was born on July 20, 1940, in Gulfport, MS, the daughter of George R. and Audrey F. Wimpee.
She attended Gulfport High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Paul Wayne Walker, Sr. They got married in 1956 and celebrated 65 years of marriage in July of 2021. She graduated with honors from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Afterwards, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Southern Mississippi, but was unable to complete it due to health issues. She was a member of the Handsboro United Methodist Church and Mississippi City United Methodist Church. At Handsboro United Methodist Church she served as a Sunday School teacher and organized vacation bible school as well as singing in the choir. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, an organization which supports spiritual growth and missions in the church. She served on countless committees at Northeast and Pass Road Elementary Schools to support educational and recreational activities in the schools and was a reader for the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Wayne Walker, Sr. and her brothers: George Reginald (Reggie) Wimpee and Victor Ray Wimpee. Surviving are her son, Paul Wayne Walker, Jr., and her two daughters, Connie Frances Balee of Biloxi, MS, and Kathy Jean Zeeck and her husband, Kevin, of Firestone, CO; three grandchildren: Eighmey Zeeck, Sean Zeeck, and Walker Leverett; and five great-grandchildren: Kai, Kiersten, Keira, Cairn, and Clara. In addition, she is survived by her sister in law, Elaine Walker and her cousin, Johnnie Wimpee and their family members.
There will be a service of remembrance in Gulfport, MS, at Riemann Funeral Home. Interment will be at Floral Hills in Gulfport, MS. Those who wish to remember Frances in a special way may make gifts to Mississippi City United Methodist Church, Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, or the Harrison County Library. Arrangements will be by In Memoriam of Broomfield, CO, and Riemann Funeral Homes of Gulfport, MS. The visitation from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM with the service starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport, MS.
