Athanasios Karatzelidis (Tom the Greek), age 79, of Long Beach, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020.
Athanasios was a native of Volos, Greece and a resident of Long Beach, MS. He owned Jan's Upholstery and Marine Services for over 40 years, and worked 20 years at Atwood Oceanic’s, as an Electrical engineer.
He learned six different languages, was a part of the Greek Military, loved to travel, enjoyed fishing, boating and had a great love for animals. Tom, better known as “Tom the Greek” was kind, thoughtful and very witty. He will forever be in our hearts and forever be missed. His Greek pride shined through his personality daily, his smile and love will forever be missed by his family, friends and beloved dog; Rex.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Kleanthis Karatzelidis and Maria Karatzelidis; wife, Olga Karatzelidis; and second-wife, Jannett Andrews.
He is survived by his daughter, Angelilki Pilar Karatzelidis; his dog, Rex; siblings, Eleni Georgantzi (Konstantinos); Niece, Kleopatra Georgantzi (Apostolis Tsolakis) and their children, Georgia Tsolakis and Eleni Tsolakis; grandchildren, Athanasios Martinez, Alexis Martinez and Elizabeth Martinez; companion and friend, Karla E. Koehn
