Atha Baxter

Mrs. Atha Mills Baxter, 90, of Biloxi, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Biloxi.
Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. P.B. Mills of Laurinburg, N.C., she was born September 21, 1917. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Baxter, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Mrs. Baxter is survived by her sons, Stephen N. Baxter of Lumberton and Ronald M. Baxter and wife, Virginia of Biloxi; 2 sisters, Doris Mills Surface of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Hazel Mills Woodward of Laurinburg; brother, Graham Mills of Aberdeen, N.C.; 2 grandchildren, Juanita Boyd of Greenwood, MS, and Joseph Allen Baxter of Smyrna, TN; and 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan and Nicholas.
Mrs. Baxter was a native of Marshville, N.C., and was a long-time resident of Biloxi, where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a long-time volunteer with Red Cross.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
