Artis P. "Boots" Chandler

Artis P. ""Boots"" Chandler, age 89, of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.
Mr. Chandler was born in Decatur, MS, and was a life-long resident of Gulfport. After proudly serving in WWII as a US Navy Veteran, he owned and operated Kahler's Food Store in Gulfport. He was also a member of Woolmarket Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmaleen Chandler; three brothers, Coburn Chandler, Victor Chandler and W.S. Chandler; two sisters, Newell Viator and Sammie Kahler; parents, Walter Stephen Chandler and Ludie Idell Chandler.
Survivors include his daughter, Vanda C. McCormick and husband Frank; four siblings, Estelle Knight, Catherine Phifer, Lib Martin and Jessie Ritchey; one grandson, Mac McCormick and wife Mendi; one great grandson, Palmer Bain McCormick, and many loving friends.
Friends may visit the family on Sunday, June 24, 2012, from 6:30-8:00 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, MS. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, June 25, 2012, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel and Military Honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
