Antoinette “Toni” Meyn Scully Ladner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, passed away suddenly but without suffering on February 28, 2023 in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
Toni was born on December 19, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana to John “Jay” and Josephine “Josie” Meyn. After moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a young girl, she graduated from Gulfport High School in 1965 and attended Jefferson Davis Community College. Toni spent her early career in various hospitality roles, which included helping her late husband Jimmy Scully run the Worth Motor Lodge and managing a Shoney’s Inn in Gulfport. Later in life, she could be found trying to sell you something, be it jewelry, antiques, or her lovely paintings.
Toni’s real priorities in life were God and her family. She was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian, Mississippi, and was previously a long-term member of Saint Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, Mississippi. She took pride in raising her children to adulthood and cherished her many grandchildren. She never passed an opportunity to travel, play games and do jigsaw puzzles, or go to the movies with her family. She found a true companion in her husband of the past 28 years Freddie Ladner, with whom she dusted off her dancing shoes, moved to the “country” and spent countless hours at the Wolf River with his family.
A true southern belle, Toni was full of life, never met a stranger, and could always be found striking up a conversation. She truly loved all those around her, and her memory will live through all of us.
Toni was preceded in death by her late husband, William James “Jimmy” Scully; her parents, Jay and Josie Meyn; and a close aunt, Margie Clements.
Toni is survived by her husband, Freddie James Ladner, Sr.; her four children, Jay Scully (Michel), Tori Scully Sims (Mike), Tina Scully Winter (Andy), and Stephen Scully (Diane); her two stepchildren, Freddie Ladner, Jr. (Danielle) and Brigette Ladner; her siblings, John “Dutch” Meyn; sister, Margaret Calkin (David); thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM and mass service will begin at 10:30. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Rotten Bayou Cemetery on Kapalama Drive, Diamondhead, MS, 39525.
