Retired MSgt Anthony Joseph Goretski passed away on Friday, April 5th at the Ocean Springs Hospital. Anthony was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on April 20, 1935 to the late Anthony John and Anna Elizabeth Goretski. Along with his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Mary Goretski.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 56 years, Berryl Ann Fountain Goretski. He is also survived by his son, Anthony (Tony) Goretski, Jr. and his wife, Sara, of Long Beach, MS; his daughter, Diana Mullins and her husband, Mark, of Manassas Park, VA, his daughter, Maureen Hanson and her husband, Lonnie, of Pascagoula, MS; his grandchildren, Katelyn and Wesley Mullins, Anthony (III) and Anna Goretski, and Sydney and Riley Hanson; and his brother, Frank Goretski and his wife, Roseanne, of Wilkes Barre, PA.
Anthony proudly served his country in the United States Air Force retiring as a Master Sargent. He was a Vietnam War Veteran who earned numerous awards that include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Force (AF) Medal, the AF Commendation Medal, the AF Good Conduct Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the AF Longevity Service Award, the National Defense Service Medal, and the AF Outstanding Unit. Anthony was also a member of the American Legion.
Anthony was a longtime member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Jackson Ave., in Ocean Springs where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, on Friday, April 12th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM for family and friends until Mass time. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Ocean Springs.
