Annette Brewer Carter was born March 22, 1936, in Anniston, AL, to Rev. Earl Brewer and Lyda Estelle Ball Brewer. She was fierce and fabulous from the day she was born until the day she departed this life on Thursday, July 7, 2022. She leaves behind a rich and everlasting legacy for her family and friends, and blazed a path across the sky all the way to Heaven. She leaves behind beloved daughters, Deborah Carter Lord and her husband Albert, of Gulfport, MS; Angelique Carter White and her husband Darren, of Gulfport, MS; beloved grandchildren, Ashley Schlafly (Thomas) of Houston, TX; Jordan Lord of New York City, NY (Shoumik); Hannah White and Christian White of Gulfport, MS.; surviving sister, Marilyn J. Mack of Gulfport, MS; and great-grandchildren, Finnegan and Eliana Annette of Houston, TX, grand-dogs, Maxwell, Duke and Daisy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In her youth, Annette began singing with two of her sisters, Marilyn and Jean, and they sang during services for their father who ministered in churches all across the South. She continued this musical ministry and used those talents in many roles in several churches throughout her life. She ministered to others with her voice, wise counsel, and messages imparted through devotion, prayer and study. Annette was also a gifted teacher and speaker – conducting Sunday school classes for many years and leading countless to Christ, as well as speaking at the worldwide General Assembly for the Church of God held in Mexico City. Annette was a gifted Interior Designer, a proud, lifelong member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and was published several times throughout her career.
Annette had the spirit of a warrior, and she was beloved by her family and friends for her honesty, loyalty, sacrificial love and style. She had her Homecoming Thursday, July 7, 2022, and was met at Heaven’s Gates by family who have predeceased her including her beloved parents, four sisters, one brother, and many extended family members and friends. Her family just hopes that the “Welcome Home Feast” was not served buffet style, as Annette hated buffets. Not a day went by when Annette did not minister to someone about her Savior, Jesus Christ, and the importance of being saved. She always quoted her father when talking about Heaven: “I’ve sung about it. I’ve preached about it, and now I’m going to see about it!” Annette is now celebrating in her eternal home, a mansion no doubt, and it has to be fabulous!
