Anna Margaret ""Marge"" Burkeen, age 78, of Long Beach and formerly of Pheba, MS, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012, in Long Beach.
Mrs. Burkeen was born in Dilliner, PA to Asa Lloyd and Bernice Katherine Brewer Jones. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force. After her service to her country, she graduated from MUW and received her Master's Degree from Mississippi State University. She taught Kindergarten most of her life, and after retirement, she and her husband traveled the country, enjoying the beauty of each place they visited. She was a flower lover and spent many hours in her rose garden. She will be remembered most for the impact she made on so many lives, and her continuing quest for knowledge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, James Bedford Burkeen.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 57 years, Bedford Forest Burkeen of Long Beach; daughters, Nora Brown (Roger) of Fulton, MS, Bernice Burkeen of Tupelo, MS, and Margaret Pope (Wayne) of Aberdeen, MS; son, Nathan Burkeen (Mary Anne) of Greenville, MS; sister, Nora Viola Chadderton; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at a later time in Pheba, MS.
