Ann Rice

Ann Elizabeth (Van Court) Rice was born February 7, 1935, in Bay St. Louis, MS to May Agnes (Abbley) Van Court and Robert Benard Van Court Sr. On the morning of December 25, 2018, while surrounded by family and in the care of St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, WA, she passed away quietly at the age of 83.
Ann grew up on the Gulf Coast, graduating in 1953 from St. Joseph's High School. In December 1954, she married Wesley Elton Rice Sr., an Air Force serviceman, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. Ann and Wes started their new lives in Washington State and raised 5 children during their 39-year marriage in Washington, Illinois, and California.
During her lifetime, she is remembered for playing Bingo with a passion, attending Mardi Gras decked out in her beads, and getting together at numerous family events.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, Wesley Elton Rice Sr., her parents, May Agnes (Abbley) and Robert Bernard Van Court, her sister, Rita Joyce Van Court, and her brother, Victor Norman Van Court.
She is survived by her children, Wesley (Lina) Rice Jr. of Poulsbo, WA, Kenneth (Cris) Rice of Puyallup, WA, Deborah (Chuck West) Rice of University Place, WA, Eric (Becky) Rice of Renton, WA, and Tina Rice of Federal Way, WA. Her grandchildren, Catherine Rice, Wesley (Emily) Rice III, Nathan Rice, Matthew Rice, Sierra West, Jordan Rice, and Taylor Rice, and great-grandsons, Wesley Rice IV, Lucas Rice, Elijah Rice, and Sawyer Rice. Her sisters, Roberta May Van Court and Mercy Van Court, and her brothers, Robert Bernard (Shirley) Van Court Jr., and Richard Allen Van Court and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS, with visitation and viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019, at GULF PINES MEMORIAL GARDENS, 19361 28th Street, Long Beach, MS.
Arrangements are under the direction of Reimann Family Funeral Homes.
