Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Neff (née Reed), age 85, beloved spouse of Col. William A Neff, USAF Ret., of Diamondhead, MS, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 5th, 2019.
Ann was born in 1933, to Faye Brigham Reed and Walter Reed in Grand Rapids, MI. A graduate of Holy Angels Academy in New Orleans, she attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and a Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.
Her interest in women's fashion led her to work as a manager at Gus Meyer Department Store and also won her recognition by the Millinery Institute of America as the "Best Hatted Woman in America."
Ann loved cooking, sailing and golf, was president of the Diamondhead Women's Club, and proudly served as Queen of the Krewe of Diamondhead. A champion bridge player, she also enjoyed participating in various charity organizations and was especially proud of the work she did to help eradicate polio.
Ann was very active in politics; she hosted President Gerald Ford at her Old Metairie home during his reelection campaign and received the Presidential Seal for her dedicated work with the Republican party.
Ann is preceded in death by her mother, Faye Reed and her father, Walter Reed; and by her step-daughter, Katherine Neff Bradshaw.
She is survived by her husband, Col. William A Neff, USAF Ret.; two daughters, Missy Barnes and Elizabeth Barnes; one stepdaughter, Karen Neff Sanches; one sister, Sandra Reed Rosen; one granddaughter, Emily McDow; and three step-grandchildren, Caroline Sanches, Jeffery Sanches, and Christopher Brand.
Visitation begins at noon with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12:30 pm on Thursday, January 10th, 2019 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln DeLisle Rd., Pass Christian, MS. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi, MS.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Rd. Pass Christian, MS is serving the family.
