Ann B. Hancock, age 80, of Gulfport passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009 at her home in Biloxi.
Mrs. Hancock was a third generation Gulfport resident who attended East Ward Elementary School and Gulfport High School. After graduating, she attended Ward Belmont College, Nashville, for one year before receiving a degree in Home Economics from University of Mississippi and was an avid 'Ole Miss' football fan. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport, where she loved singing in the choir. Ann was a skilled homemaker, loving wife and mother, and former teacher who loved to travel with her husband. She was a member of Green Thumb Garden Club, Club """"47"""" and Revelers, the first women's carnival association in Gulfport. Ann enjoyed spending her time with family and friends.
Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by her husband Joe Mack Hancock and by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Barrett of Biloxi.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy McCaskey, and her husband, Carl, of Tallahassee, and Patricia 'Tsh"""" Hancock of Biloxi, as well as her sister, Patricia Connell, of Birmingham, AL, and many neices and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn, American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and Trinity United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport, where family and friends may visit from Noon until service time. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
